“Investing in Innovation”
The BBAA (British Business Angels Association) is pleased to announce details of the 5th BBAA Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony. The event this year will be held at the world famous and prestigious Belfry Hotel and Golf Course near the city of Birmingham in the West Midlands, on 8 & 9 July 2009.
This event is the UK’s leading awareness raising and networking forum for those involved in the early stage investment market. The event is open to guests active and interested in investing in and supporting UK SMEs.
The Annual Conference – 9th July 2009
The conference will welcome over 200 participants from the UK, Europe and further afield. The Conference attracts representatives from the business angel and early stage venture markets and other professionals who also have a direct interest in early stage investing market such as accountants, lawyers, academics and banks. The conference will be held on 9th July at The Belfry Hotel, nr Birmingham with registration beginning at 9am and closing at 5pm. We will hear from a range of high level speakers from around the world including policymakers, investors and industry case studies. The event will offer extensive opportunities to join in interactive debates and exchange views on a range of topics related to the early stage investment market.
The key theme for this event will be to highlight the importance of the early stage investment market as the driver for supporting innovation and the future regeneration of the UK economy. Early stage investors can play a key role in investing in high growth potential businesses through the current downturn and harnessing innovation for a new era of long-term prosperity, enabling businesses to emerge in a stronger position and seize the opportunities that will follow.
This conference will focus on innovation both in terms of the importance of investment in high growth early stage business and looking at the impact of new innovative models and initiatives in the early stage investment market both regionally, nationally and internationally. Increasing access to Business Angel investment and early stage funds is vital within the current climate. At the same time there are new initiatives emerging to increase access and delivery of early stage funds, including new strategic alliances between key players in the market place to meet the needs of innovators.
The Annual Awards Dinner – 8th July 2009
The high profile BBAA annual awards dinner is an opportunity to improve transparency in the angel and early stage investment market and highlight the importance of early stage Investment to the growth of SMEs in the UK. The awards will be celebrating the achievements of angel investors, venture capitalists and businesses that have made a significant contribution to the development of the early stage investment market and SME growth in the past year.
Last year over 200 guests from the early stage investment market joined the BBAA in celebrating the achievements of peers which was hosted by Richard Farleigh of Dragon’s Den infamy. This year, the event which will for the first time be black tie, is being held in the sumptuous Warwick Suite at the world famous Belfry Hotel and Golf Resort on the evening of 8 July and will be hosted by an equally impressive speaker from within our industry.
The Dinner and Awards Ceremony will be preceded by a champagne reception on the terrace of the Belfry Bar - weather permitting! The Awards achieve high press coverage and the BBAA this year will be working hand in hand with national and trade journals to ensure that the event achieves the accolade it deserves.
