We Own It
Exploring the Motivations, Metrics, Money and Myths Around Women Entrepreneurs

Event website coming soon:  http://www.weownitsummit.org/

By Invitation Only For:
Leaders of organizations and institutions advocating, promoting, accelerating and researching women’s participation in high-growth entrepreneurship.

Background:
A Summit established to explore women’s participation in high growth businesses and identify the solutions that move us forward in to the decade of the woman entrepreneur!

We know the motivations
We know the metrics
We know the money
We know the myths
We come together to own the solutions

The Kauffman Foundation has for many years provided seed funding in support of research and programmatic initiatives intended to increase the number of women as entrepreneurs of high growth firms.  In the last two years their research suggests that the tides have begun to turn and they have noted the feeder group of women receiving advanced degrees in science and technology has greatly increased.

In the fall of 2009 Astia convened a dialogue with more than 20 organizations that work in the arena of women’s entrepreneurship.  Simply stated, it was time that we collaborate to drive toward common objectives to be identified and measured annually at one significant conference – The We Own It Summit.

Objective:
The goal of the day is to drive collaboration, energize the global discussion, and create a roadmap for increasing women’s participation in high-growth entrepreneurship in the 2nd decade of this century.

The We Own It Summit creates the venue for leaders to articulate their respective missions, identify opportunities to collaborate and build alliances, share research and findings, and create a shared-policy agenda.  A specific outcome is to define key data to support policy recommendations to directly address the core challenges facing women entrepreneurs in high growth sectors, and those who aspire to be.

Internationally renowned panelists will explore the opportunities and challenges for women entrepreneurs – in particular within high-growth markets such as high technology, life science, clean technology and high-growth consumer brands.
