Lorraine Hariton, entrepreneur, long-term FWE&E supporter, former Board Chair and Board Member and now US State Department Special Representative is making a Bay appearance where she will be interviewed about the new entrepreneurship programs being offered by the State Department. In addition, she will be discussing export initiatives that US entrepreneurs should be taking advantage of that are being offered by the US Government.

If you are an entrepreneur and not familiar with these programs, this will be a great opportunity to learn about what resources are available for you to help grow your business both locally and internationally.

Finally, we will be very interested to learn of Lorraine’s career path from Silicon Valley executive, to major national fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2008 to her current role in State Department.

About Lorraine
Lorraine Hariton was sworn in as the State Department’s Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs on September 14, 2009. Her experience in innovation and entrepreneurship will provide a unique perspective in addressing our global economic growth challenges. She will be responsible for State Department outreach to the business community and commercial advocacy efforts. She will work with the business community worldwide to ensure that commercial diplomacy efforts support U.S. foreign policy objectives.

Ms. Hariton brings to the State Department more than 25 years of experience in the information technology sector in Silicon Valley. Throughout her business career Ms. Hariton worked with various technologies and products including mainframes, thin-client technology, e-commerce financial infrastructure, internet audio solutions and speech applications. Most recently Hariton worked on Smart Grid initiatives including advanced metering and intelligent street lighting.
