85 Broads presents: Astia – Where Women Innovators Succeed

Tuesday, August 09 2011, 9:00am - 10:00am

We’re half the population.  And half of all new MBA and PhD classes.  So why aren’t women similarly represented in the ranks of high-growth entrepreneurship?

Data shows if women had the same access to capital as our male counterparts, we’d see six million jobs added to the economy in five years, two million in year one alone. Seems like a simple solution to the economic recovery we all seek. So what do we need to do to make it a reality?

Join our four-part series designed for innovators, investors, high-growth entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.  The series will be led by Sharon Vosmek, CEO of Astia, a non-profit organization focused on driving the success of women-owned, high growth, entrepreneurial businesses and empowering them to positively impact today’s global economy.  Sharon is one of the country’s most respected voices on the value of gender diversity in driving business growth, and an invaluable resource about the quantifiable impact women entrepreneurs have in creating economic success.  To learn more about Sharon or Astia, please visit: www.astia.org

AUGUST 9th 9:00am PST / 12:00pm EST

Session 1: Calling High-Growth Entrepreneurs:  What makes you unique? What will ensure your path to success? Why we all should care that you succeed!

Think new business ventures don’t have much of an impact on the jobs market?  Think again.  All net new jobs in the last 30 years were created by enterprises fewer than five years old.

In this session, Sharon will share the secrets of how high-growth entrepreneurs can achieve success for yourself, your company and your investors.  And as part of the process, how your business can make a positive impact on the local and national economy.

September 20th: Session 2 - Calling All Women of Influence: Why you will change the face of innovation for generations to come

October 4th: Session 3 - Calling All Men & The Women Who Should Know Them: Why should entrepreneurs care whose rolodex they are in?

November 8th: Session 4 - Calling all 85 Broads members: How Do We Support the “Decade of the Woman Entrepreneur?”
