Series Description:
SDForum, in conjunction with
Astia, has launched its 2008 Clean Tech Breakfast Series for a third
year in a row. You are invited to attend the sixth breakfast: “Next
Generation Biofuel Feedstock" to take place October 21st at 8:00 am to
10:00 am in in Palo Alto, at the Cabana Hotel. We are pleased to
announce that The Clean Tech Breakfast Series is being sponsored by
Nixon Peabody and Moss Adams.
Topic Description:
Algae is regarded as ideal for
large scale energy production such as ethanol and bio diesel. It has
the potential to grow 10-100 times more energy per acre than land crops
and does not adversely impact food production. To date it has attracted
about 20+ companies into different areas of opportunity. However many
challenges to commercialization including production rates, yield,
processing and scaling. There are several different approaches being
pursued to address these issues, such as genetic engineering; closed
system bioreactors and different algae species. The panelists will
cover the state of technology and commercialization as well as their
recommended solutions to these issues as well as alternatives to algae
in the biofuels sector.”
