Travel Guide: Silicon Valley 2010

Visiting San Francisco
San Francisco is considered a popular international destination because of it's magnificent scenery, unique landmarks and diverse culture. We would like to share with you some of our favorite places and recommendations for your visit to Astia’s Doing it Right Program. Enjoy!

BOOK YOUR STAY Book your stay at our local partner hotel, Joie de Vivre's The Galleria Park Hotel, as it is situated within walking distance to the Doing it Right program.

Galleria Park Hotel offers a retreat-like setting in the heart of vivacious San Francisco and is a fantastic destination that will charm leisure travelers and soothe busy corporate guests. From impeccably furnished rooms to a private half-acre park on the third floor, this San Francisco hotel is unlike any other.

191 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94104 (tel. 888.568.9546)

AIRPORTS There are three San Francisco Bay area airports: San Francisco International (SFO) which is about 13 miles south of the city; Oakland International (OAK) in the East Bay, and Mineta San Jose International (SJC) in Silicon Valley. Please note that SFO is the most suitable for Astia’s Doing it Right program

TRANSPORTATION Zoompool, a California based rideshare matching service is a great way to carpool to the Doing it Right Program. Hassle free, Zoompool can help save money on parking and gas as well as time by personally matching you with rideshare options. More information to come!

WEATHER November in San Francisco is the best time of year as days are typically sunny and warm and nights are mild and usually clear. Rainfall is rare and the fog has cleared during fall months. We highly recommend wearing layers as temperatures may vary.

RESTAURANTS Our staff has come up with a small list of our favorite dining spots in the city. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

  • Chez Papa 414 Jessie St (bet. Market & Mission) This is a favorite Astia after-work spot for fancy and fun cocktails. Chez Papa is a French bistro located in SoMa’s mint plaza that serves tasty French classic fare in an upbeat and elegant setting.
  • E&O Trading Company 314 Sutter St (bet. Grant Ave. & Stockton St.) E&O offers a lively scene and interesting menu that combines the best of the Southeast Asian culture.
  • House of Nanking  919 Kearny St (bet. Columbus Ave & Jackson St) Considered some of the best Chinese fare in the city, although a hole in the wall it is something not to be missed.

SPA DAY Celebrate your hard work with a spa treatment at one of the most luxurious spa’s in the heart of the city, Burke Williams Spa . Astia is pleased to share with you a special Astia promotion ~ Book 2 services for the same day and receive the second service (at equal or lesser value) complimentary.
